Earning A Distance Learning MBA Online

Distance Education Articles : Earning A Distance Learning MBA Online by Deanna Mascle

Although the concept of distance learning is not a new one, many professionals who already have bachelor's degrees are taking advantage of off-site learning opportunities to attain a distance learning MBA.

Many accredited universities are beginning to offer distance learning MBA courses in an attempt to reach students who are not able to attend on campus classes for a wide variety of reasons. Many institutions that offer distance learning MBA courses are considered a distance learning college, but many traditional educational institutions are also offering distance learning courses that allow alumni to get a distance learning MBA from their alma matter. However, many times a degree from a distance learning college carries the same weight as a degree earned by students who had the opportunity to attain the same degree in a traditional classroom setting. In fact, some employers and industries actively recruit graduates from a distance learning college because of the ability and discipline it takes to graduate from a distance learning program, especially a distance learning MBA. Graduating by taking advantage of distance learning courses also shows a lot of determination and the drive to succeed, which are the kind of qualities many companies like to see in their new recruits.

However, because of many factors, there are many different distance learning formats you can take advantage of to get your distance learning MBA. Correspondence courses have always been very popular, but many distance learning colleges also offer e learning courses, which mean that it is a strictly online class. Many professionals with busy schedules prefer e learning courses because of the convenience and the ability to access class information from any location with an internet connection.

Other programs take advantage of a technology called Live Interactive Television. Live Interactive Television allows students to view a real time lesson by an instructor in a distant location. This technology makes it possible for students to ask questions and interact with instructors, which bridges the distance that separates them. Although this format takes some time to get used to, it can allow an instructor to reach a very large audience, as well as exposing students to instructors and guest speakers that they normally would not have access to. It also allows much of the structure that comes along with a traditional classroom.

Televised courses are also becoming a very popular method for distance learning courses, especially distance learning MBA programs. Televised courses allow students to view a lecture without leaving their home. Many students record televised lectures and watch them at their convenience.

Although many people settle for a bachelor's degree, getting an MBA can open a lot of career doors and provide better pay for nearly any job. For many people, a distance learning MBA is the only option that makes sense.

Is Distance Learning Right for You?

Online Education Articles : Is Distance Learning Right for You? by Curtis Bowen

Would you like to go back to school, but can't because your family needs you? Do you wish you could continue your education, but don't have time because of your busy work schedule? Would you be attending college right now if only you could afford it? There are many people in the same boat, who, for a number of reasons feel that they can't currently pursue their education.

We've all heard that people with college degrees earn significantly more money over the course of their lifetimes than those without a degree. You may have even seen the statistics. Still, for many people it just isn't possible to find the time or the money that it takes to earn a degree. You may think that quitting your job to go to school, or squeezing trips back and forth to your local college in between your other responsibilities are your only hopes for ever achieving a college degree. That's assuming you can even afford it in the first place.

If any of the above sounds like you, I recommend you look into distance learning online. Distance learning is offered by many traditional colleges, as well as by online-only colleges. By participating in online classes you can earn your degree in your own time frame, whether you want to hurry up and complete it as fast as possible, or you want to take your time and complete your degree more slowly.

The great thing about distance learning online is that it allows you much more freedom than a typical college schedule. Just devote whatever free time you can to your school work, and as long as you're persistent, you'll eventually earn your degree.

Besides being more flexible, pursuing a distance learning education is often cheaper than traditional colleges. And just like with regular schools, accredited distance learning schools also have scholarships and grants available if you need them.

If you've been wanting to go to college, take a good look at distance learning online. An online degree may not be right for you, but for many people it makes a lot of sense.

Distance Learning Scholarship Tips

Distance Learning Scholarship Tips by Curtis Bowen

So you've decided to embark on the journey of distance learning online. But there's a problem. A big one. You can't afford it. Don't worry, as a student of an accredited distance learning institution, you have access to tons of scholarship money, just like students attending "real" schools. In fact, there are some scholarships intended just for students of online colleges and universities.

When researching your online school, check to see if they offer full or partial scholarships to incoming students. This is a great way to finance your education, and more and more accredited distance learning schools are providing scholarships to promising students like you. The scholarships offered by online colleges are often smaller than those given out by traditional schools, but their tuition prices are usually cheaper as well, so that is reflected in the scholarships. Check with your school as soon as possible for the availability of scholarships, as they are sometimes first come, first served.

Many companies, especially larger ones, have programs providing scholarship money for members of their local communities. Some businesses will even offer to pay for your school and give you a job after you graduate, depending on your course of study. They may even hire you while you're still working toward your degree. Hospitals are especially known for offering scholarships to nursing students, and others in the medical field.

There are also scholarships available through contests, usually essay contests. Search your local newspaper or look online for these offers.

Another source of scholarship money is through organizations. Many clubs and groups have scholarships available for members, or relatives of members. So check to see if any of the organizations you or any of your family members belong to might offer scholarships. If you were an excellent student in high school, or a standout athlete, or band member, there are scholarships available. There are scholarships given out for all sorts of accomplishments, and even things such as being left-handed or any number of other strange reasons. So even if you don't think you'd qualify for any scholarships, check just in case.

Distance Learning Programs Lead The Online Education Revolution

Distance Learning Programs Lead The Online Education Revolution by Samantha Ellis

The notion of distance learning programs varies, as many individuals still aren't aware of what taking a distance learning course involves or whether an education through a distance learning school is the right one. There are advantages and disadvantages to studying online. Before enrolling in a distance learning course, the following points should be taken into consideration:

A better focus and concentration is a huge advantage of distance learning programs. Wasted time commuting and the distractions of listening to lectures amidst a group of shuffling people are gone. Distance learning courses can be worked on when the time is right and when the student can sit down to fully direct his or her attention to the course material.

Everyone in an online classroom gets a chance to contribute. Many times, students grouped in traditional classrooms are reluctant to raise their hand to either ask or answer a question. In a room full of fellow students, pressure to avoid embarrassment is high. With distance learning programs, students are able to think through a question carefully and can post the answer online to the distance learning school website or message board, when they are ready to do so.

Being taught online leaves very little room for cheating or slacking off. As with live classrooms, quizzes and exams through distance learning programs are timed. Through discussion boards of the distance learning school, it is easy to tell whether or not a student understands the ideas in a lesson. There is actually little chance for people to get by unnoticed while competing a distance learning course.

With online courses, there is no such thing as a 7 am class. There is no driving across town and having to hunt down a parking spot that is close to campus. Distance learning programs give students the ease of learning at their own pace and at their own convenience. Students can study their distance learning course in the comfort of their own home.

With that being said, working at home can have its own set of distractions. The sound of the television, the telephone, or the noise coming from kids or pets can be major distractions. Working online can also lead to temptation of doing something more fun, such as chatting via instant messaging or surfing the web. It may not apply to every student, but things like browsing can take out a chunk of time in your day that could have been used towards your distance learning program.

Personality may have a lot do to with whether you enjoy distance learning programs or not. The online environment and independent study involved in a distance learning course means that students don't have the social network of other students available. Everything is worked on alone and there are no study groups to provide support. Some people love working on their material on their own, while others do better in a group environment with conversation and discussion.

When a student has a problem while working on homework or on an exam, the student taking a distance learning course can directly ask a teacher for help. With distance learning programs, though, the teacher and students may not be together at the same time, meaning that an instructor cannot give a student immediate feedback and must communicate differently.

Distance learning programs are taught through a computer and a student must uphold a minimum level of computer knowledge. Knowing just the basics of computer technology is usually not enough for a student to excel within an online class.

With certain distance learning courses, reading material and discussion boards alone are not enough for students to understand a concept. Especially in classes such as math, it may take several examples explained by the instructor until a student finally understands the idea. Because of this, many students find distance learning programs difficult.

How To Choose the Best RN to BSN Online Nursing School

Distance Learning Online Nursing Articles : How To Choose the Best RN to BSN Online Nursing School by Jeff Morrow

About 41,000 nurses were either put on waiting lists or not accepted to nursing school last year. If you are a registered nurse (RN) wanting to get into nursing school, and don't want to wait any longer to earn your RN to BSN degree, or worse yet apply and be turned down to nursing school, you may want to read this article about the great benefits of online nursing schools.

RN to BSN Online Nursing Programs - A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree will help advance your nursing career in many ways. However, most students never consider applying to an online nursing school which is located out of state or across the country. Yet some of the best, fully accredited nursing schools offer their nursing program online to out of state students.

This article will discuss the benefits of earning an RN to BSN nursing degree online, and the criteria to use when choosing a top ten nursing school to attend.

While online nursing schools are relatively new, they are, by no means a fad. Nursing students can take advantage of these newly formed opportunities and earn their education online.

The Benefits of Online Nursing Schools Nursing students will be pleasantly surprised to learn about the many benefits of attending an online nursing school. Some of the high level benefits include:

1. No waiting lists However this may change soon

2. Attend classes anytime and anywhere an Internet connection is available

3. Save time by commuting to your office or anywhere an Internet connection is available

4. Save money as online schools can be as much as one half the cost of campus programs

5. Earn a degree quickly, in as few as 30 credit hours

How to Find the Best Online Nursing Schools in Three Steps - When looking into any university, it is important to understand the kind of education you will earn. Picking the wrong school can be detrimental to your career. Use the following 3 tips when finding an online nursing school to attend:

1. Attend a FULLY accredited nursing school program. Regional accreditation is the highest form of accreditation that a schools can receive. There are only six regional accrediting bodies for colleges and universities in the United States:

- Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

- New England Association of Schools and Colleges

- North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

- Western Association of Schools and Colleges

- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

2. If you are looking for the absolute best online nursing school to attend, find one with a supplemental nursing accreditation such as one from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

3. Look for a non-profit university. Usually state colleges or state universities offer the best nursing school education. These schools are often associated with teaching hospitals, so the nurse educators are some of the best in their field. Even if you are an out-of-state student, attending school online will likely be less expensive than attending campus-based program.

Why a Fully Accredited Nursing School Degree is Essential to Your Career Health - Attending a fully accredited nursing school has many advantages over attending a lesser accredited college or university. Do not take a chance when it comes to your nursing career. Make sure you get the best possible education for these two reasons:

1. Attending an accredited university ensures that the classes you pass will be accepted should you transfer from one school to another or if you plan on gaining an advance degree. In a regulated profession like nursing, earning an accredited degree will ensure compliance with any employer.

2. If you want help to pay for nursing school, attend a regionally accredited nursing school. The only universities allowed to offer a full package of federally funded financial aid are the regionally accredited colleges and universities. Otherwise, the financial aid options available to you will be limited

Attending an online nursing school, may not have been your first thought when you considered being a nurse, but you can earn an accredited and sometime prestigious degree when you graduation from an online nursing schools.

Online Nursing Degree: A Wide Open Opportunity

Online Nursing Degree: A Wide Open Opportunity by Elizabeth Whitesmith

The past few years has seen the need for nursing in the United States reach a critical level. By the time of retirement for the majority of the baby boomers there will be a shortage of the medical professionals needed to care for the aging population. This shortage has been beneficial to some, however, as those who are interested in the profession have seen the average salary increase consistently over a period of 15 years.

Many people, however, are unable to quit their day jobs just to go back to college. They need to be able to find an educational opportunity that works for their lifestyles, without hampering their abilities to raise families. One of the best ways that people can enter the nursing profession and work as they are studying is to enroll in an online nursing degree program.

There are many distance based programs that also offer online nursing degree programs. Among those that offer this option are Regent's College of New York, Walden University, and University of Phoenix. Some of them offer entry level programs, but the majority of them are bachelor degree programs online for those who are registered nurses with an associate's degree.

Many colleges that claim to let you earn bachelor degree online may not be properly accredited, which would render the degrees that you would earn useless. If you are thinking about taking courses for an online nursing degree, make sure that the school offering the courses is fully credentialed. No one wants to spend a lot of money and time working on a degree program and then find out that their efforts have been wasted.

How to pay for one's degree is another major concern. Nontraditional students might find it difficult to receive government loans and federal grants. So, these students will need to discover new and creative ways to pay for school. Most trustworthy institutions will have financial aid specialists to answer questions about these nontraditional avenues.

Persons who are interested in pursuing an online nursing degree must be up to the challenge. Financing may be somewhat problematic, and these individuals must learn to balance the demands of work and family with the discipline of studying on their own. Those who are able to balance these challenges, ultimately completing their degree and working as a professional nurse, may find that their success is even that much more gratifying.

About the Author
If you're interested in a career as a nurse and are looking for an educational opportunity that won't interfere with work or family time, enrolling in an online nursing degree program might be the best way for you to go.

Online PhD Degrees - Achieve The Next Level In Pajamas

Online PhD Degrees - Achieve The Next Level In Pajamas by Nelson Widrow

What's valuable to our society nowadays? I'm afraid that if we answered that question I would become very depressed. So, let's not get to in depth with that one, except would it be fair to say that many of the things on that list would qualify as superficial? Ugh, I'm getting depressed. But, that's a blanket generalization and certainly doesn't apply to all. What do you think about education? Or educating others? Ooh, just the thought alone gives a little lift to my heart. I have thought for a long time that teaching is one of the noblest professions around. I have the utmost respect for those who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the lives of others through expanding their understating of the world, mental capacity, analytical reasoning, and even the self-empowerment that comes from gaining these things. Unfortunately, with our skewed value system, the educational system seems to always be in need of competent, trained teachers, at all levels of education. This is where online PhD degrees comes in.

If you are already working within the education field this could be a great option for you. You're already certified as a teacher and have gained a good understanding of the type of schooling you'd like to pursue. Your schedule is tight, as the work day of teachers doesn't end when the bell rings. Virtually all major Universities are now offering education online PhD degrees and more are starting all the time. So, its not about some disreputable institution that provides you with a faux degree, but the same quality of classes that require the same demanding work, except you can work around your schedule.

Getting your education PhD degree will provide you with the understanding in various educational methodologies and practices, the theoretical base, research and administration knowledge that you can use to advance in your career and offer the students the best possible opportunity to learn as possible. This is achievable through an online PhD degree.

Those looking to earn their Master's degree in a time and cost effective manner now have every opportunity to do so. With a curriculum that is every bit as solid as an onsite college, one can gain all the skills they need to push a career to unbelievable heights.

A Master's degree in Business Administration is easily one of the most sought after certifications for those in the business world. Many are daunted by the heavy price tag that can come with such an endeavor; but when considering the salary of those with this degree under their belt, it is easy to see an MBA is well worth the investment.

Deciding to pursue a Master's degree can be time consuming, especially for the busy working adult. That is why distance learning MBA programs make perfect sense. No matter where one is in the world, there is an opportunity to attend a top business college without the hassle of travel or relocation.

Earning this type of degree is often cost effective as well. With none of the added extras that come with attending an onsite campus, students can expect to pay only for the resources they use. Classes are often broken up into small units called modules that are easy to follow and self-explanatory.

At the same time, earning a Master's degree online still offers a good amount of cyber classroom instruction for students. Teachers and lecturers often use webcams, chat rooms, forum boards and even online interactive whiteboards to communicate classroom concepts over long distances. Students can stay in touch with their instructors via email, chat or even phone.

Those who obtain their Master's degree in Business Administration open up a world of opportunity for themselves. It has been found that there are simply more options for the individual with an MBA than those with extensive years of experience alone. Individuals already employed in the business world frequently see a number of doors on their career path swing wide open.

Distance learning MBA programs are also the preferred method of learning for a majority of companies that offer tuition reimbursement programs to employees. Not only is it cost effective; individuals can keep their regular schedules without missing too much in the way of valuable work time. This makes the MBA even more obtainable for even the busiest working adult.

No matter what the field, an MBA can prove quite advantageous. Those working in finance, marketing, non-profit organizations and even personal business can benefit greatly with this knowledge backing them all the way. The MBA can even be useful for those in government jobs as well.

Before doing anything, smart individuals will ask themselves what qualities make them a good candidate for an MBA program. The basic qualities of someone who might be good for an MBA program are that of honest people who enjoy working as a team as well as the many aspects of leadership.

When opting for this type of program, it is also important to check out a number of online MBA programs before applying to any one school. One should ensure that the Master's degree a student earns is fully recognized. Legitimate institutions should accredit an online course. Any offers for financial aid may be rescinded if a program cannot show it is accredited.

The career opportunities that can be achieved with distance learning MBA programs are nearly impossible to pass up. Never before has there been a time when earning a Master's degree could be so advantageous in both time spent and potential income earned.

Distance Learning Mbas Online are Well Within Reach

MBA Online Program : Distance Learning Mbas Online are Well Within Reach Author: Samantha Ellis

Many professionals who already have a bachelor's degree are turning to distance learning MBA programs in order to get their master's in business on their own time or while working a job that may be very demanding.

Still, some distance learning MBA programs include televised courses. Televised courses allow students to record lessons and watch them at their convenience. While televised courses are somewhat more convenient than Live Interactive Television, televised courses do not permit students to ask questions in real time.

Furthering yourself by seeking a distance learning MBA can be challenging, but many employers and professionals see the difference between an MBA and a bachelor's degree like the difference between a bachelor's degree and a high school diploma.

How to Determine the Quality of an Online Nursing Program

Distance Learning Nursing Degree : How to Determine the Quality of an Online Nursing Program by Grant Eckert

Accreditation

The process of accreditation is not mandatory for nursing programs, but it is desirable. Accreditation is a voluntary program that schools can use to make sure that their program is on par with other schools across the country. While there may be many fine schools that are not accredited, accreditation should give you confidence in an online nursing program. Another reason to choose a school with a valid accreditation is that many schools will not take transfers or allow continuing education from a school that is not accredited.

There are two groups that accredit nursing programs in the United States. They are the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission, or NLNAC, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, or CCNE. By choosing a school that has the seal of approval from one of these agencies, you should feel confident that you are enrolling in a quality program.

Styles of Learning

Once you are comfortable that your school meets national standards, you must determine whether it will work for you. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular, which is both good and bad. The rapid growth in popularity of online classes has made it difficult for some schools to turn away students. Consider it from the schools point of view. An online course normally costs the same as a regular course. However, the online student does not need a seat in the classroom, does not need to fit into a class. Many colleges do not restrict the class size for online classes. While this may not be a problem if you really understand the coursework and are able to work well independently, it can cause a problem if you need extra help or find yourself falling behind.

One way that many online classes work is by collaborative learning. It is not unusual for the instructor to divide the class into smaller groups and provide assignment for each small group to work together on. Depending on your group you may find yourself spending a good deal of time in online discussions that you had not counted on when planning your time.

Other classes provide little to no interaction between yourself and other students. You will check a class message board for assignments and receive your grades in an email and have little interaction with anything other than the text book.

While it is helpful to discuss the styles of classes before you settle on a school, most teachers within a school have their own style of teaching, and you will have to adapt to each method. The most important factor when considering an online nursing program is the availability of the teachers. In even the smallest classes, if the teacher is unavailable or less than timely in returning graded assignments it will be hard to get the most from your classes.

Hands on Training

In a nursing profession it is important to receive hands on training. You will have to count on a certain number of class hours to be clinical, or hands on. The number of hours and how they are accumulated will vary by school and degree program. Someone studying for the registered nurse, or RN, degree will spend a great deal of time doing clinical work, while a student completing their Bachelor's of Science in Nursing that already is an RN and has worked as a nurse will require few, if any, clinical hours.

Getting Your Questions Answered

An online nursing program, like any other online degree program, is only as good as the people running it. It can be more difficult to determine the quality of the teaching in an online setting, but by paying attention and doing your research you may have find some clues. When you contact the school initially, how are you treated? Are your calls and emails returned promptly? Are your questions answered in a clear manner? The treatment you receive before you are a registered student can be indicative of the treatment you will receive through your time at the school.

Does the staff seem generally knowledgeable and available to answer your questions about financial aid, transferring credits, and other factors that you must consider before committing to one school? While everyone is an individual, you may discover that a helpful and administrative staff often works in the same places as supportive teachers.

The bottom line when shopping for an online nursing program is straightforward. Check that the program is accredited, make sure that there is a system in place for you to receive your clinical hours, and consider the attitude of the staff before you enroll as a student.

Getting A PhD Degree In Distance Learning - Achieving Thr Mastery of Online Education

Online PhD Articles : Getting A PhD Degree In Distance Learning - Achieving Thr Mastery of Online Education Author: Bob Carper

One of the most innovative and exciting applications of internet technology is in the field of Distance Learning. Here, instruction in any field and any topic takes place around the world. Time and travel are no longer any impediments. This article discusses factors involved in becoming a recognized authority in this field.

What is "Distance Learning?"

Distance Learning is a field of education that focuses on instructional systems design that delivers education to students who are not physically "on site" to receive their education. Instead, teachers and students communicate by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate synchronously in real time The types of distance learning courses are as follows:

1 Correspondence conducted through regular mail
2 Internet conducted either synchronously or asynchronously
3 Telecourse/Broadcast where content is delivered via radio or television
4 CD-ROM where the student interacts with computer content stored on a CD-ROM
5 PocketPC/Mobile Learning where the student accesses course content stored on a mobile device or through a wireless server

Origins and History Of Distance Learning

Modern distance education has been around at least since Isaac Pitman taught shorthand in Great Britain via correspondence in the 1840s. Since the development of the postal service in the 19th century, commercial correspondence colleges have provided distance education to students across the country. Computers and the Internet have only made distance learning easier, just as they have for many other day-to-day tasks.

One of the oldest distance education universities is the University of South Africa, which has been offering correspondence education courses since 1946. The largest distance education university in the United Kingdom is the Open University, which was founded in 1969. In Germany, the Offern University in Hagen was founded in 1974. There are now many similar institutions around the world, often with the name "Open University".

There are now many private and public, non-profit, and for-profit institutions offering courses and degree programs through distance education. Levels of accreditation may vary. Some institutions offering distance education in the United States have received little outside oversight. Others may be fraudulent diploma mills. In many other jurisdictions, an institution may not use the term "University" without accreditation and authorization, normally by the national government.

In the present day, radio, television, and the Internet have all been used to further distance education. Distance education programs are sometimes called correspondence courses, This was an older term that originated in nineteenth-century vocational education programs that were conducted through snail mail. This term has been largely replaced by distance education, and expanded to encompass more sophisticated technologies and delivery methods.

In Distance Education, students may not be required to be present in a classroom. That also may be a question of option. As far as an electronic classroom or Virtual Learning Environment goes, it may or may not be a part of a distance education setup. Electronic classrooms can either be on campus or off campus. We would call such institutions as using a flexible delivery mode.

Distance Education may also use all forms of technology, from the printed page to the computer. This range will include radio, television, audio video conferencing, computer aided instruction, or e-learning. A distinction exists between open learning and distance learning. "Open" education is the system in which the student is free to choose any time and place. "Distance" education is a teaching methodology used when the student and teacher are separated by time and place.

Distance Education has traversed four to five generations of technology in its history. These are print, audio/video broadcasting, audio/video teleconferencing, computer aided instruction, e-learning/ online-learning, and computer broadcasting/webcasting. Yet, the radio remains a very viable form, especially in the developing nations, because of its reach. The increasing popularity of the iPod, PocketPC and Smart Phone has provided an additional medium for the distribution of distance education content, and some professors now allow students to listen or even watch video of a course as a Podcast. Some colleges have been working with the U.S. military to distribute entire course content on a PocketPC to deployed personnel.

Thus, it follows that not all open learning institutions use distance education and not all organizations that use distance education are open learning institutions. Indeed, there are many cases in which students are in traditional classrooms, connected via a video conferencing link to a teacher in a distant classroom. This method is typical in geographically dispersed institutions. Conversely, the term virtual university is sometimes used to describe an open-learning institution that uses the Internet to create an imaginary university environment, in which the students, faculty, and staff can communicate and share information at any time, regardless of location.
