Description: Learn how you can more effectively utilize information technology to enhance the quality of patient care. This specialization, distance education onilne, offers a multidisciplinary approach to informatics by blending nursing science, computer science, and information science. Coursework focuses on such key areas as information systems, database concepts, and effective project management. Fieldwork experience provides you with the opportunity to apply your new knowledge immediately. Applicants for distance education onilne who have a diploma, A.D.N., or bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than nursing and are licensed registered nurses may be accepted in the M.S. program in Nursing, provided they fulfill the general education requirements. Once distance education onilne applicants meet these requirements, they are admitted to Walden and begin taking the foundational courses. Students then progress on to the core curriculum, the specialization courses, and finally, the capstone courses.
