Online Nursing Degree Articles : A review of the University of Phoenix Online Nursing Degree by mansi gupta
The University of Phoenix Online started as a traditional university in 1976 and was one of the first to go online in 1989. It is currently the leading online university, with tens of thousands of students from countries around the world. This has made this school one of the most popular of its kind anywhere in the world. Their flexible schedule and commitment to excellence shines through as they churn out more graduates than any other school in their class every year.
One hundred percent online. Lectures and assignments can be downloaded into your home computer through the use of special Internet-access software. There are no live lectures to facilitate comprehensive access for everybody. A forum grants the students the chance to interact with each other and ask questions. A full line of research services and online libraries are available to the student. Contact between instructor/advisor and student are handled through email.
After a one-time application fee of $110, the University of Phoenix works as any other institution, charging students by the credit hour. Currently, prices are $460/$570/$645 for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral credit hours, respectively.
There are other incidental charges, such as late-payment and graduation-audit fees, and you should ask for a detailed breakdown before enrolling.
Low-cost financing and financial aid is available and you can consult an admissions counselor about eligibility. Payments are broken down as per course rather than per semester, which makes them more affordable and easier to budget for.
According to an article published in The Chronicle of Higher Education, the average Phoenix student is 34 years old and female. The average tuition is just under $30,750 for an undergraduate degree. Sixty six percent of enrolled students earn the degree they signed up for. Fifty percent of students receive some kind of grant or financial aid.
A degree can be completed in as little as two years, but students can take up to five. If credits are transferred into the program at the time of enrolling, time can be considerably reduced. Other way of earning credits is through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP).
All instructors hold a minimum of a master's degree and are successful professionals in their fields. The faculty includes hundreds of CEOs, business owners, executives, and experts in all related disciplines.
Independent study requires discipline and creativity, plus the ability to communicate efficiently. Beyond that, high-quality online universities do not differ much from traditional ones and offer the benefit of flexibility, fundamental to today's busy professionals.
There is one matter that requires some thought. You cannot complete your degree through University of Phoenix online. All of the classroom and book work will be complete, but in order to earn the degree you will need to transfer to a traditional university program for the clinicals which must take place in a medical setting and have you in person and onsite.

Online Nursing Degree Articles : How An Online Nursing Class Works by mansi gupta
Online nursing classes are not all that different than the standard type of school with a few exceptions. There are several ways in which you can study nursing online and each of the schools that offer online course studies do things a little different. There is no one right or wrong answer when it comes to how an online class works. This is what makes the online schools so great as they can offer so much more in a shorter amount of time than the traditional schools can. The online schools are built around the needs of the students especially those who have certain time constraints like holding down a full time job on top of going to school. This makes them so popular that more and more schools each year are turning to online course studies to make sure that they are offering their students only the best in high level education for the next years to come.
For the most part, a student that is involved in an online nursing class will spend a certain number of hours in class room study just like a traditional school. Some of the schools offer classes through teleconferencing and other methods to make it as trouble free as possible. This allows the students to be in a virtual class room as the teacher lectures on different subjects. The students then have the option to pose questions over the internet connection to the classroom via the computer. The teacher than answers the questions either out loud or through an email selection that is set up for each student and teacher.
Some schools are geared more towards the independent studies of the students believing that this will earn them more knowledge if they do it themselves. These schools do offer communication with the professors over a secure internet connection to help with any issues that the student may have. These schools believe that this is the best and most effective way to handle the learning process and to help keep the costs down. With this system, most of the students receive their assignments via email and are required to return them via the same method in a certain amount of time.
Most of the courses also require books much like the traditional schools do. It is not prudent to try and offer every bit of material over the internet. This can cause a lot of problems among the students and teachers who often times prefer to garner the knowledge with traditional text books as well as online materials.
Taking a page from the traditional courses, teachers also require that all homework assignments be turned in by the specified time. This will help to ensure that the student did the work and not just forgot about it in the midst of all the other life situations that the student may be having.
Of course, before your degree is complete you will need to transfer to a land campus to take part in clinicals. This part of the degree takes place in person and is a requirement to earn a degree in nursing.
Check with the school that you desire to attend to determine how they handle online study in the classroom environment

The RN to BSN Online Bachelors Degree in Nursing Explained
Online Nursing Degree Articles : The RN to BSN Online Bachelors Degree in Nursing Explained by mansi gupta
The RN to BSN online bachelor's degree in nursing is an educational program for a registered nurse with a diploma or an associate's degree in nursing, who wants to earn a baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN).
Earning an RN-to-BSN online is the best possible option for nurses who work full time and have family responsibilities. For it offers these students the freedom to customize the program courses to suit their needs.
However, you should find out if the RN to BSN online degree program you're enrolled in is self-paced, or structured like that of a traditional class, where there is a designated start date.
What does a Bachelor Of Science Nursing (BSN) degree entail? Most colleges and universities offer this course as a four to five year program. However, while the program trains nurses for hospital and other health care settings, on the main, it prepares the student to assume leadership positions in the health care industry.
Although each online college and university has different courses in their programs, here are the basic prerequisites you'll need for acceptance into an accredited online BSN program.
* A graduate of a diploma or associate degree in nursing from an accredited NLN (National League of Nursing) school
* Have completed 60 semester hours of prerequisite course work with a passing grade
* Character references from reliable sources i.e. teachers, and supervisors at work
How does the student attend classes?
* In general, the student logs on to the school's website, with a given password.
* Then checks the latest posted lecture materials for the subject matter.
* For questions or comments, the student has access to a discussion or bulletin board.
* There will be times that the instructor will schedule a one on one chat session or group session. * The student is given a deadline for submitting the work and this is generally emailed to the instructor.
As for your clinical experiences, the general arrangement would be to have your practicum done at the city you live in, with guidance from your advisor.
The online school will then arrange a Contract of Association between them and the health care center or clinic in your community. A preceptor is then assigned to supervise your practicum. Here's where your work connections will be of most help. You don't have to identify possible healthcare centers or clinics, and ask to work with them, instead you can perform the required clinical experiences right where you work!
It is certainly understandable if you hesitate about taking the plunge to take the RN to BSN online program, especially if you've been out of school for a long time. Nevertheless, think of the benefits, career advancement, more participation on the health care aspects in your organization, and most importantly - the better salary!

Why You Should Market Through Distance Learning Courses
Distance Education Online Articles : Why You Should Market Through Distance Learning Courses by Susan Dunn, Coach
Distance learning courses are very popular and a natural way for you to market your other products and services.
1. It gets your name out.
Listing your courses on www.teleclass.com or www.blackboard.com will put your name in front of many new people.
2. It helps establish your expertise.
If you're good at what you do, it's natural you would start teaching it.
3. It allows you to reach different markets for potential clients.
The people who take teleclasses are different from the people who take computer courses, yet both may be interested in your services. Some may also just be looking around, and may click through to your website and get interested in something else entirely!
4. You can use them to naturally promote your other products and services.
How often has someone said to you, "Oh. I didn't know you do that too." In my Emotional Intelligence (EQ) course, it's quite natural for me to mention assessments the student should take (I'm licensed to sell the EQ-Map assessment), and the opportunity for other courses I offer (on the different competencies, such as resilience, intuition and creativity), and tapes and products I sell related to EQ. Once you know EQ, why not buy one of my mugs that says "EQ is better than IQ!" to help spread the word?
5. There are affiliate opportunities.
My students are interested in learning all they can. I'm an affiliate for amazon.com. I recommend books they should read and have the link within the course. When they buy through my link, I make money. EQ means working out the right brain, so I can also recommend the "dummies" course in music appreciation, with links provided, and my art appreciation course.
6. It closes a loop.
There are numerous research studies showing that EQ is best learned through interaction, such as coaching, so it's a natural for the serious student to then sign up for EQ coaching to complete and round out their learning experience.
7. Open the loop!
A good distance learning course provides resources for lots of other learning opportunties, some of which will be yours! I also pair with another coach who offers services I don't want to provide. Once they go to her to learn XYZ, her courses refer them back to me, for the special things I offer. We both build our practices that way, and sell more useful products.
8. The interactive aspects of your distance learning course are also great new avenues for marketing.
Design your courses so that the students email their responses to you. In each email interaction there's a chance for you to teach more, and also to promote your products that are relevant. Make sure your sig line works for you in that respect. [See my topten "Let the Signature Block of Your Email Work for You" (AF527)
9. It builds relationship--the greatest marketing "tool" of all.
Be giving and personal in your responses to students' assignments. The person will have a chance to get to know and trust you, and we do business with people whom we like and whom we trust. Make the connection in every way you can.
10. If you know and love your subject, and love people, this will show through. You'll naturally attract a following for your services and products
You are in a position to take advantage of the teacher-archetype. Be faithful to it; use it wisely and well. A "teacher" holds a special place in our lives. We love thoser teachers who teach us well and with love. We naturally listen to them and look to them for guidance. Honor this archetype in all that you do, and your students will begin to look for you for other sources of learning and development. They'll also give you ideas for other products and services, and will refer you to friends. One of my students recommended my course to everyone else in his department.
There are many ways to use distance learning courses to market yourself and your products. Be a good teacher, and be creative, and the opportunities are endless.
They are inexpensive to set up and run. There are coaches who can help you get started teaching DL. You may also want to read my Top Ten on getting started.

Market Through Distance Learning Courses
Distance Education Online Articles : Market Through Distance Learning Courses by Susan Dunn, M.A.
Distance Learning courses are a great way to market your practice and other products you sell.
First of all, it gets your name out in a new way. For instance, I'm a personal and professional development coach, and so its natural that I would offer further avenues for development in addition to personal coaching. The courses I offer reinforce that I'm an expert in my field. They also give the client something extra they can do on their own if they're serious about their personal and professional development.
Distance learning allows you to reach different markets for potential clients. Offering a teleclass on one of your topics of expertise will reach a whole new market and get your name out to a whole new group of people.
Listing your course on blackboard.com will reach yet another group of interested learners and potential clients. Some learn best by listening to the spoken word (teleclasses) and others prefer to read. Some are just looking around, and may click through to your website and get interested in something else entirely!
How you construct your courses and the content is up to you, and within the course itself there are many naturally-opccurring ways to market too.
How often has someone said to you, "Oh. I didn't know you do that too." Within the course you can promote other products and services that you offer. I'm also an affiliate for amazon.com and there are many books I can recommend the student should read. When they buy through my links, I make money. Developing your EQ means giving your right-brain some calisthenics so I can also recommend the "Dummies" music appreciation series through amazon.com. Since all studies show that EQ is best learned through interaction, it's a natural for the serious student to then sign up for EQ coaching to complete and round out their learning experience.
A good distance learning course provides resources for lots of other learning opportunties, some of which will be yours! I also pair with another coach who offers services I don't. I don't use a referral fee, but once they go to her to learn XYZ, her courses refer them back to me, for the special things I offer.
The interactive aspects of your distance learning course are also great new avenues for marketing. Set them up so that the students email their responses to you. Be giving and personal in your responses to students' assignments. The person will have a chance to get to know and trust you, and we do business with people whom we like and whom we trust. Make the connection is every way you can.
If you know and love your subject, and love people, this will show through. You'll naturally attract a following for your services and products.
You also are in a position to take advantage of the teacher-archetype (Jung). A "teacher" holds a special place in our lives. We love our teachers who teach us well and with love.
Be a good teacher, and be creative and the opportunities are endless.

Distance Learning Courses: A Good Source of Revenue
Distance Education Online Articles : Distance Learning Courses: A Good Source of Revenue by Susan Dunn
Distance learning is used extensively in the corporate and academic worlds and more and more interested individuals are taking advantage of the wonderful opportunities it offers to learn and grow.
If you're planning on starting some distance learning courses, here are some things I've learned.
1. Make your courses unusual in some way. There's a lot of competition out there. Try some different graphics or a different format, something that will make them stand out.
2. Be sure they're interactive. This can be as simple a putting polls or quizzes in the course, or asking questions the student can respond to by email.
3. A catchy title works wonders. "Get That Promotion" works better than "How to Get Promoted." Somethign action-oriented and promising works well.
4. Offer options. My courses are asynchronous--that is pre-packaged--and ready to go. Once the student has paid for the course, they can choose whether they want the whole thing at one, or delivered to their email once a week.
5. The logistics of a distance learning course are something you don't need to be spending your time on. Get a virtual assistant to keep the roster, mail the courses out, and deliver the completion certificates.
6. Yes, be sure and give your students a certificate at the end. If you aren't that talented, a virtual assistant can create one for you. (Need the name of a good VA, email me!)
7. You must retro your writing style to git distance learning. Get a coach. Take other distance courses and process what works and what doesn't. Practice and get feedback from your coach.
8. Get feedback from your students. They'll tell you how to make the course better.
9. Use one course to promote other courses you offer. There will be plenty of opportunities within the course to tuck in suggestions for further learning opportunities through you.
10. Once your courses are done, they'll be self-running and this is a great source of passive revenue. Turn the logistics over to a VA. You'll answer the responses yourself, which may sound overwhelming, but here's a fact--adult learning being what it is, many of the students don't make the responses, so it won't be as taxing as you think.
11. Use your correspondence with the students to promote other things that you do. I send the URL each week with an e-note containing further information, notice of other products, and geto-to-konw-you chats. In this way I get many clients for my coaching business.
12. Love it or don't do it. It shows. A distance learning course can be a very personal experience--or should be--for the student. Your enthusiasm for your subject, and for your learners must show.
13. Fiddle with the pricing until you've built a faithful clientele base. There's a lot out there for free that you have to compete with. Until they understand how exceptional and different your learning opportunities are, you may have to give away or deeply discount your courses.
It's a great new field. Jump in and have fun!

Distance Learning Doctorate Degrees - What To Do After Your Masters Degree
Online PhD Program Articles : Distance Learning Doctorate Degrees - What To Do After Your Masters Degree by Gina Sarento
Online education is becoming an increasingly popular method of earning a bachelor's or associate's degree. However, many schools are not also offering advanced degrees for master's and doctoral degrees. A distance learning doctorate is an ideal solution for individuals who have a master's degree already and do not have the time to go back to school full time. Most people with a higher education are already in the workforce and have stringent time commitments for personal and professional obligations. This can hamper someone from continuing their education but with the flexibility of online programs, this issue can be solved.
In order to attain a distance learning doctorate, you must have access to a computer and have an Internet connection. If you are not yet skilled in the basic functions of a computer and how to use the Internet, it is advisable to learn before starting classes. You will use this resource heavily, so you should have expert knowledge already. Most people already have sufficient knowledge of the Internet and computers since they are used so frequently in business today.
There are several methods for attaining a distance learning doctorate. Research various schools for their philosophies and curriculum before committing to a program. There are various approaches and one will likely suit you best. It is advisable to start a doctoral program at the same place you intend to complete it so there is no re working of existing work or credits that do not transfer. Take your time to research methods and choose one that will realistically suit your style of learning and time constraints.
One method to obtain a distance learning doctorate is a completely book free method that is custom made to your personal goals. This method brings you in contact with a professor who specializes in your field and will create a curriculum for those needs. The assignments are completely written and cover related topics in your field. You will need to research and write about a number of topics all relating to the industry in which you specialize. This is a viable option because you are learning practical applications for your business.
Another method is to utilize the distance learning doctorate curriculum to study and research with testing and thesis submissions. The majority of the work is done online but has a more structured course schedule. You will likely have detailed assignments and need to use books as well as do Internet research. Testing may be required at local affiliated testing centers that are located in your area. Some schools will even have a split curriculum where portions are on site and other portions are available online.
Traditional methods of learning are very sound; however, many people have too many responsibilities at work or in their personal lives to commit to the time involved in earning a doctorate degree. Colleges and universities have recognized this and have adapted distance learning doctorate programs to account for this. Accelerated and custom class curriculum account for work experience and knowledge to help speed the process. Utilizing technology, the schools offer comparable classes with the added convenience of working at your own pace from your own home.

Learning About Online Mba Rankings
MBA Degree Online Articles : Learning About Online Mba Rankings by Gerri Stone
The MBA stands for masters' in business administration and is a post graduate degree in business administration. The ranking system comes into play because the MBA is one of the country's highest rated and most popular graduate masters' degree programs. Online MBA rankings refer to the schools that offer the program and, in fact, factor in to establish a ranking system that helps prospective students find the best MBA possibilities in the country. The online MBA rankings hold to a set of criteria that refer to where the school or program is positioned in the overall ranking system.
As more universities start to offer the degree, the differences in the quality of the programs and of faculty at the schools are important in terms of how the graduates are prepared for the real world of business. In addition, the differences in the courses offered needs to be evaluated and compared to other programs, to determine the ranking of the program. Online MBA rankings are available on several web sites to help the prospective students come up with a way to rate and discover the ranking of the schools they may consider attending.
Determining the MBA Rankings
As MBA programs became more prevalent, various publications in newsprint and in magazines began to talk about the differences in the programs. From this, a series of informal rankings began to emerge and people started to rank the programs as a way of comparison. Eventually, periodical publications became popular and these contained the MBA rankings. Online MBA rankings were, of course, the next logical step in distributing these rankings to the public. Several magazines, such as Forbes, dedicate large amounts of issues to the MBA rankings each year.
Online MBA rankings follow a set of criteria that are determined by the study committee. The committee for studying the rankings comes up with a set of criteria based on the actual course itself, on the faculty, and on the location of the MBA course. From there, the ranking is set up and the schools are compared based on the online MBA rankings. They are then listed in order from best to worst and distributed with details attached to each listing. From this organization of information, selecting your online MBA program becomes a simpler task.

The Pros And Cons Of Getting Your MBA Online
MBA Degree Online Articles : The Pros And Cons Of Getting Your MBA Online by Trevor Marshall
Times today, most people would like to earn more than what theyre getting. Its only practical that they do. Some of them resort to sideline work to earn a little bit of extra. But there are others who decide to pursue a master of business administration or MBA degree.
There are a lot of opinions circulating on this matter. Some feel that once they have an MBA written on their curriculum vitae, it could bag them a better or higher paying job. While some feel that experience, not just education, is the key. These are the ones who prefer to have years in the workplace, rather than spend it in an academic institution.
So why not get the most out of both worlds right? Some enroll online for their MBA and they do this while they are working. Thats because they dont actually intend to transfer jobs. They just want to continue earning while they are pursuing an education that could provide a secure and more financially stable future.
Applying for an online MBA is also suggested to parents who stay at home most of the time to take care of the children and to manage the house. If you think about it, pursuing an MBA online is quite beneficial to the individual because he gets to do more without sacrificing much.
Come to think of it, MBAs are beneficial for those who have been employed for more than 3 to 4 years. There is truth to the belief that having experienced the working atmosphere, the employee knows better on the subject and not just those that are taught on paper.
Those who pursue MBA right after college are sometimes encouraged. But then realistically speaking, it is better if they do go out there in the real world first before they enroll themselves in another university.
When making a major decision in life such as pursuing an MBA online or not, its better to make a pros and cons list. We have provided you with such:
Pros:
1. It will help you in staying competitive. An MBA gives the student an edge. If an employer is looking for someone to work under him, naturally he prefers someone who has an MBA. Another edge of applying online for an MBA helps you to gain experience in the work place and still learn more about businesses, marketing and other fiscal transactions in your free time. Thus, you are not in the losing end when you apply for a position you both have the education and the experience.
2. It doesnt matter if you pursued it online or not. Statistics show that those who have MBA degrees have high-paying positions in management. It also shows that they are getting higher salaries.
3. Obviously, pursuing an online degree, the advantage is that the student can be located anywhere in the world and that wouldnt be a problem whatsoever. The student interacts with the faculty through email. His schedule is under his own control. As long as he passes the requirements, then there wouldnt be any problem.
Cons:
1. Online or not, pursuing an MBA is expensive. The irony is that those who usually go for MBA are people who need additional income. The reason why they need additional income is that they have a family to support. IF they would really want to sign up for a class, even if its online, they would have to really ponder on the matter whether they can shell out that much cash. How much would they gain from this investment?
2. Because there is no monitoring, the student tends to be lax when it comes to submitting papers and needed requirements. If there is no self-discipline, then this will not work.
3. As convenient as getting MBA online is to this modern world, there are still some successful and high-paying companies who prefer the traditional classroom set-up. That is something the student must also bear in mind.
If the person is determined to pursue an online MBA degree then he has to carefully look into the universities who offer the best and trusted accredited quality education. The University of Phoenix is one.
In the end, its always the persons choice. Also, thatever decision he comes up with, there would always be pros and cons, but then again, how can you gain something when you are not willing to invest?

5 tips to choose the online nursing school right for you
Online Nursing Degree Articles : 5 tips to choose the online nursing school right for you by mansi gupta
No one can tell you which online nursing school is right for you. As a rule, you must be the one who chooses which path to take and how you want to get there. The differences between the online nursing schools are varied and one needs to be aware that they all have their pros and cons. However, if you make a wise and informed choice then you are half way to your goal. If a nursing school fits with your schedule, needs and personality than there is nothing stopping you from succeeding.
Bear in mind that no matter which online school you choose you will still need to take part in clinicals which require 'in person' teaching to complete your degree. So before you have earned the degree you will need to transfer to a land campus school.
1. First and foremost check out the fees that the online nursing charges for their courses. This is probably the most important part of choosing an online nursing school. It is the common practice of all reputable online nursing schools to be up-front with their fees. They realize it is important to new students to know how much they will be paying for the course. This will help to build trust in the school as they put fourth the effort to respect their students by offering their fees in an honest manner.
2. You will need to check out the course requirements before signing up for anything. Each school has different requirements that must be met before entering their program. These may include a high school diploma, previous nursing courses, or specific course studies from other schools. All of these requirements are easily located in the prerequisite area of the course description.
3. Time available is very important when choosing an online nursing program. You will need to check and make sure that you have the minimum amount of time that is required by the school to dedicate to class and course type studies. Most of the schools that offer online programs operate on the same premise of standard schools and require that students complete a minimum number of hours in class room study to be eligible to graduate. All of the time that is required will be listed in the course description during the review process.
4. Degrees offered is another area where one should put fourth some effort in research. If the online program does not offer the degree that you need to get the job you want then it is useless to you as a school. Through most of the online nursing schools you can choose the type of degree that you wish to obtain and enter the course of study as set down by those guidelines.
5. Finally you should determine if the school you are looking at fits the individual needs that you have. If a school does not fit the most basic needs than it will not be of much worth to you as a student. If you have special needs or require an aggressive course study you should check with the online schools advisor to ensure that they can accommodate such a need or desire.

Who Can Apply for Online Nursing Degrees?
Online Nursing Degree Articles : Who Can Apply for Online Nursing Degrees? by Ignacio Setien
Online nursing degrees are college degrees in the field of healthcare and nursing that are obtained via the Internet. Online nursing degrees are great ways for registered nurses to further their careers without having to take a leave of absence from their jobs.
There are two main types of online nursing degrees.
The first is a bachelor's of science degree in nursing. This type of degree is for individuals who are already a registered nurse but who wish to further their nursing career. These degrees also require that the student participate in on-site lab rotations and clinicals. The rest of the course work can be completed entirely online.
The second type of degree is a masters degree. These degrees require that the student first have a bachelors degree in nursing and at least three years work experience in the nursing field.
While some online nursing degrees require some onsite work, this work can sometimes be completed at the healthcare environment that you are currently employed in, for example, the clinical rotation can be completed as part of your regular job. Many registered nurses pursue online nursing degrees to further their education. These degrees can be obtained in such specialties as healthcare management, human resources and business management.
These qualifications will allow nurses to compete for jobs in the administration side of healthcare. Nurses with a master's degree can become hospital administrators or nursing staff supervisors.
Most online degrees require at least two years of additional study. This time can be shortened if an individual has prior college credit to transfer or numerous years of relevant work history.
If you are interested in obtaining one of the online nursing degrees but you have not received your registered nurses degree as of yet, you can first obtain this degree through a vocational school in your area and then go on to further your career through the Internet.

Online Doctoral Programs
Distance Learning Online PhD Program Articles : Online Doctoral Programs by Rose
A recent U.S. report on the state of education, In Growing by Degrees: Online Education in the United States, 2005, revealed that thirty-eight percent of schools offered distance learning online Ph.D programs. Further, the Survey of Earned Doctorates found an increase of 3.4 percent in the doctorate degrees awarded in the U.S. as of June, 2004. Ph.D education online offers working students the opportunity to complete coursework within the parameters of their busy schedules, which may account for the substantial increase in doctorate degrees earned in the past two years.
Postgraduate degree programs are designed to give students a chance to explore a subject fully to gain the greatest levels of proficiency in that area. Online doctoral programs may be based upon a specific curriculum or research and independent study. A study done by the Penn State University Outreach Marketing and Communications with University Continuing Education found that nearly half of distance learning college enrollments are adult students that prefer the flexibility of online classes. Students save time and energy on traveling to campus and can pursue their studies at their convenience.
Online doctoral programs offer students guidance through coursework, email, online chats and virtual lectures. Students are expected to work independently and use research resources to fulfill course requirements. Some doctoral programs require students to complete a thesis, which is a detailed research paper that will be made available to other students in the field. There are two basic types of doctoral degree programs students may pursue - professional or research. There are also honorary doctorates, which are not necessarily academic and can be awarded for notable contributions to a particular field. Online doctoral programs give students the opportunity to earn professional or research degrees.
Professional doctorate degrees, such as J.D. and M.D., are required to perform in certain specialized fields such as medicine, dentistry, law, psychology and chiropractics. Students must earn a bachelor's degree before entering into a professional doctoral degree program. Professional doctorate degrees traditionally take three years to complete and do not usually require a thesis, although some require an original research paper. Online Ph.D programs are tailored for the individual student and may be completed in less time than in a traditional classroom setting.
Research doctorate degrees are pursued by students who seek to become experts in their particular field and are the most commonly earned doctorate degree. It can take anywhere from three to ten years to complete a research doctorate degree, depending on the course of study and the length of time it takes to gather pertinent research. Online doctoral programs enable working students to progress at their own pace to complete the research necessary for the doctorate degree.
Online Ph.D programs give students the valuable opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies while maintaining their current positions and income.

Meeting the challenges of working adults and others with busy lives, distance learning can be just the right stepping stone to a successful academic path.
There are more than sixty online Doctorates programs offered in the U.S. Depending on the determination of the individual student, the Doctorate Degree can be achieved in about three years. Some of the most popular fields of study include Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Management, Education, Health Sciences, Human Services, Nursing, Public Policy and Administration, and even Psychology. It is amazing to think that you can become an expert in any of these fields by studying over the Internet! But, others have done it and you can, too.
It is wise to keep in mind that many online doctorates programs require students to attend local workshops or spend some time practicing in hands-on clinics to supplement the online doctorates studies. Doctoral candidates must commit a fair amount of time to schoolwork, allowing at least 12-15 hours per week for active participation and lesson work. But, the rewards and sense of personal achievement make online doctorate programs a path well worth the effort.

Things to consider including the school's recognitions, the school's pass rate of licensing programs, and their ability to provide one on one attention to their students. There is no doubt that having the best school will insure that you get the degree that you need to have rather than one that provides you with just a passing score. Still, there is much more to consider including how well the school provides for your needs in the method of educating you.

And an MBA-holder is likely to have those skills and savvy.
School accreditation is the most important factor to consider when deciding on an online MBA program. Proper accreditation could mean the difference between an online MBA degree that gets you a promotion and a degree that isn't worth the paper it's printed on. There are three types of accreditation agencies that are essential to consider when earning an MBA online: regional accreditation, professional accreditation, and distance learning accreditation.
1. Regional accreditation is your best bet. 2. Personal accreditation will make your online MBA stand out. 3. Distance Learning accreditation may not be accepted everywhere. 4. Any other type of accreditation will not be as important as the three listed above.
You can earn a general MBA degree, or choose a particular specialization depending on your strengths and career goals. Disciplines are available in technology, IT, human resources, administration, marketing, and accounting; all the aspects of a well-oiled business machine. All MBA degrees will ensure you have a comprehensive education in business.
Study Option: The mode of studying for an MBA is also evolving. The executive MBA allows students to work and study at the same time, arranging a mixture of classes, meetings, online work, and individual tutoring. A marketing MBA may allow you to prove your business credentials without having to go through the process of working in junior level positions. Since this qualification can be used across a broad range of sectors, your employability should be good.
Executive MBA: An Executive MBA is a graduate degree designed for executives, managers and other leaders in business. An executive master of business administration degree may have some similarities to other business programs but is carefully focused for its intended participants. Executive master of business administration degree programs are designed specifically for people who are currently in business but who wish to further their education. Students can usually complete their executive MBA degree within two years even when working full time. The program of study for an executive master of business administration degree covers the full spectrum of business concepts with emphasis on integrating the areas together. Course topics include accounting, statistics, finance, marketing, and management and information technology.
Marketing MBA: A Marketing MBA is a master's degree program designed to give you the skills you need to successfully manage an organization. Getting a degree online is now much more convenient with the colleges and universities through expanding Internet options. Earn Your MBA Degree Online
MBA Degree Online Articles : Earn Your MBA Degree Online by Remy Jirek
Earning an MBA degree online is becoming easier and easier. Many colleges are offering partial and full on-line programs for people to earn their graduate school degrees. In the past people who wanted to earn an MBA had to stop working or switch to part-time employment in order to attend campus classes. But today earning an MBA has become much more convenient.
On and Off Campus
Campus programs have started expanding and offering degrees online. Schools that used to just offer on-campus programs are seeing the need for an expanded degree program. With on-line courses the colleges can deliver low cost, high quality education, to a wider student base.
School courses that are delivered in an on-line setting are just as educational as the on-campus classes. Many courses offer tele-class lessons or other virtual classroom venues. These school courses are usually packed to capacity because they have become so popular.
Each course is going to offer a unique way of learning for the students that take the class. Some courses will be easier to work through an on-line program than other courses will. Also, some students learn differently and will not be able to learn through an on-line course. Each student needs to evaluate their ability to stick with an on-line degree program before paying tuition fees.
New Types of Colleges
There are also colleges that mainly cater to the on-line student. This type of school may offer some community courses but most of their students take courses on-line. These types of schools offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degree programs to their students.
Some programs can be completed entirely online, while other programs may require some occasional on-campus class work. Some popular degrees that are offered include bachelors of Education, psychology, business, education, and MBA graduate degrees.
Ten years ago the only way to earn an MBA was to try to squeeze classes in during the day or work all day and take night classes. But even then there were not very many programs that were able to accommodate working adults.
How They Compare
On-line college programs can be offered inexpensively compared to regular college tuition because the teacher can administer the course right from their desk. Even though the tuition is less expensive than a four-year university some low-income families may still not be able to afford to attend college...even if it is an online program.
To help make these types of programs an inexpensive alternative, most on-line universities offer the same federal student loans that other universities offer. These federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans and grants make an affordable online college degree a possibility for almost any family.

Online programs are definitely worth looking into if you are considering going back to school to get your degree. They are convenient and offer you the ability to earn your MBA while staying at your current job. Most programs are offered on a continuous basis which makes them even more convenient to enroll in.

Time Management Skills For Distance Learning
Distance Education Learning Online Articles : Time Management Skills For Distance Learning
As a busy professional, it is vitally important to manage your time. There are some broad principles, approaches, that you need to learn and apply. The first is to take the view that your time is precious, and should not be wasted. By the way, relaxation time, leisure time, relationship time is not “wasted”, it’s important, valuable time that you need to plan into your life. These broad principles include, you need to take control. That is, to take control of your time and the way in which you approach the activities that you have to be involved in, such as work activities and family commitments, and ensure that there is also time in your life for the personal activities that you wish to be involved in, such as leisure and relaxation activities. You need to plan ahead. This is vital. Being successful means being busy, and to manage being busy you need to plan ahead. You don’t have to perform at “genius” level. If you work hard and as efficiently as you reasonably can, you are doing well. You need to prioritise. You need to rank activities into an order where you can see which activities, what work, which tasks, are the most important and need urgent attention or a specific amount of time spent on them, and which activities are less important and can be pushed back, or worked on over a longer period, or delegated to others, or even abandoned.
Look at your current situation. This is important. You need to evaluate, to analyse, to consider, what condition are you in now? how well, how poorly, do I manage my time at the moment?. The only way to do this effectively is to maintain a log, a diary, a record, of what activities you are involved in, how much time you spend on them, how many interruptions do you suffer from, how many targets do you achieve, how many targets/deadlines do you miss, what activities (work, personal, family, social) are you not involved in which you would have liked to be involved in?. The way to evaluate this is to keep a log, a record, ideally for a month, but if that’s too long, then at least for an absolute minimum of a week. Try to keep this record for at least two weeks, and if there are “unusual” events, disturbances, interruptions, that do occur occasionally or irregularly, that haven’t occurred during the period that you have kept your log, then make a note of them.
You can then analyse this record, to obtain a picture, a snapshot, of how your time is taken up, how your time is consumed, and what influences, what events, are disturbing and disrupting your activities.
Remove obstacles, barriers, conflicts, time-wasting activities. When you have analysed your log, your record, you will have identified many negative influences that affect your management of your time. These can include: colleagues coming to talk with you on important matters, but at unscheduled times, when you are trying to concentrate on other activities; telephone calls that are not ones that you should deal with; emails that are not important, or not relevant to your main priorities, but you feel obliged to answer; colleagues visiting you because they are bored or just want to chat; distractions that you generate, such as searching the internet for leisure or social interests, when you should be working or studying; accepting new tasks or projects when you know that you should be focusing on existing activities.
The next step is to take action to eliminate or reduce these time wasting events or activities. This can be as simple as telling colleagues that you are too busy to talk at this moment (but you will get back to them later), or more subtly, standing up as they enter your “space” and saying that you are on your way to an appointment or meeting, and can only spare a few seconds, to just being more disciplined about not drifting off into cyberspace when you should be working on a project or task on your pc. It should also include the more serious, and more difficult, action of saying “No” to new activities, new workload, new projects, when you are fully aware that you need to give your full attention (time, effort, energy, intellect, expertise) to existing work commitments. No-one will thank you if you say “Yes” to additional work and then manage it poorly, make mistakes, and cause problems, because you don’t have enough time, effort, energy, to manage that extra workload effectively. They will only blame you for being over-confident, at best, and inefficient and incompetent, at worst!
One of the most effective ways of managing interruptions, disturbances, and unexpected activities, is to take preventative, pre-emptive, action. This is the time management equivalent of “prevention not cure”, as promoted by those in the Quality Management field. In time management terms, this is taking action to prevent other people and other events from causing you difficulties. One simple example of how this approach can make a major difference is in thinking, in advance, of all the people that are likely to interrupt you, or to ask to see you, and, instead of waiting for them to decide when they want to come to visit you, email you, or telephone you, or ask you to come to them, you plan when you want to see them, or email them before they email you, or telephone them when it is convenient to you.
Use physical tools to help you manage your time. This includes an electronic or paper personal organiser, Filofax style, or a computer package, such as comes with Outlook. These will help you to be visibly organised and get you into the habit of thinking about how to plan and manage your time. If you are by nature a forgetful person, use post-it notes to make reminders and place them on your desk or work station, and review them and act on them regularly.
Set goals, objectives, targets and aims. This is not so easy, but essential. Work targets, objectives, are relatively easy, as they are often imposed upon you. With workplace activities, you need to plan, prioritise, schedule, and manage these, but of course, taking into account the targets and deadlines imposed by your organisation. Personal development or career development objectives, goals, targets, are not so easy to set, as they need to be ones that you, only you, have decided on. With these, you need to decide what activities will help you to achieve your personal and-or career development goals, ambitions, targets, objectives, and schedule space, time, for these activities into your plans. Make “action needed” lists. Set priorities, tasks to be completed, for each day, and for each week, and for each month. For each daily list, ideally, do this at the end of the previous day, so that it is waiting for you at the start of the next day. Follow this approach on a weekly and monthly basis for the weekly and monthly lists. Prioritise jobs and activities, and eliminate, discard, activities which are not of any use to you. Then concentrate on the important jobs first.
Managing your time effectively is not easy. It is a task in itself, a discipline that has to be learned and applied consistently. But it can make a tremendous difference to your life, at work, at home, whilst studying, and at leisure. If you follow the advice given here, you will have made a good start on the road to managing your time more effectively, and making time for the important activities in your life. These can be work related activities, but can also include study time, relaxation time, relationship time, and, as important as any of the others, time simply for yourself!
